Dear All
I tried a lot to fetch unicode values from MS Access but I could get only question marks. Now am trying to use HXTT for retriving unicode values from MS Access. Am in a situation where i have to fetch data stored in any Indian language in MS Access. Is there any way to fetch these using HXTT or without using it.

For MS Access 2000, you needn't any setting with HXTT Access JDBC driver.
For MS Access 95 or 97, you need to set charSet connection property.

Yeah. MS Access 2000~2003 uses unicode string, and HXTT Access supports it. Please check whether your OS supports to output those

For MS Access 95~97, you need to use charSet connection property, otherwise HXTT Acess will utilized the stored charSet property in MDB files.

If you failed to see normal Indian string, please check whether your OS or Java supports it, since HXTT Access is using unicode charset for MS Access 2000~2003.

Thanks for your support. As you have said am using
String ver =(rs.getString("VernacularName")); but i could retrive only junk characeters or question marks. I could see the unicode characters when i open the MS Access database and also i could export the characers to excel or a rtf file. Am using an approriate reginal font in textbox to display it in a swing application. Plesae tell me whether i have to anything more.

Please email us such a mdb sample. If you see ? character in your Java VM, maybe it's still a langguage support issue.

Checked. All rows in VernacularName table can't bee read in MS Access Chinese Version. All rows in Java show ?, which means that unicode can't be supported by our test OS. It should be a OS or Java's charset support issue. What's your language?

But if Java VM doesn't support it, you can't read it through Java GUI. You can try ResutSet.getCharacterStream or ResultSet.getClob() to get a char[] to output.

I have tried the ResutSet.getCharacterStream and it is also not working so if you could test my sample database and come out with a final word that whether your driver support these unicode or not.

Support. You can use
char[] strchar=resultSet.getString(...).toCharArray();
for(int i=0;i{
System.out.println((int)strchar[i]);
}
to print the correct unicode values.

But since your OS or Java VM doesn't support your language, you can see only ? in Java GUI.

Your OS or Java VM doesn't support your language. To check whether your PC installed Malayalam font.

It hasn't any relation with HXTT Access. You should check your Java VM and OS.

>whether there is any way to retrieve unicode from those int values
If you can add font support for your language into Java setting, it can show. Otherwise, noway.
