Column name length again
Rob Gansevles

Hello,

I have a dbf file (created with foxpro) that has a column whose name is 22 characters long.
When I inspect the column with jdbc meta data, the COLUMN_NAME string only gives me the first 10 characters of the name.
The REMARKS string does give the full name, so the information seems to be there.

When running sql with this column, it appears that both the truncated name and the long name are accepted.

The problem is that when 2 columns may conflict in name if their first 10 characters are the same.

Is it possible for you to change the driver to return the long name of the column in the COLUMN_NAME meta data?

Thanks in advance,
Rob Gansevles

Btw, I wanted to reply to my earlier question thread but could not find a way to do that

Hello,

I tested with the latest download (DBF_JDBC40.jar), but am still seeing a truncated column name.

Can I send you my test file somehow?

Rob

Checked. COLUMN_NAME meta data of DatabaseMetaData.getColumns will return long column name. If you fail, please send us your test files.

An question thread older more than one month doesn't allowed to follow.

Hello,

I must have tested with the old version, it does work now.

Thanks,

Rob
