HXTT DBF
SELECT and lockType
Adrian

Envirnoment is Legacy system maintains DBF, while HXTT application only SELECTS data. Running Cold Fusion8 on Win2k3 server. DBF are accessed remotly via UNC.

If I am only allowing SELECT statements should I need specify lockType for proper application concurrency?

How can I determine my FoxPro version?

Thanks!

If your Legacy system is doing frequent data modification, you need lockType.

>How can I determine my FoxPro version?
You needn't. You can use lockType=FOXPRO, then HXTT DBF will determine whether to use VFP or FOXPRO connection property.

So it seems I can add the parameter in the JDBC URL like this:

jdbc:dbf:/\\MYSERVER\MYDIRECTORY\?lockType=FOXPRO

Please confirm, thanks!

Yeah.

My JDBC URL is configured as: jdbc:dbf:/

In my SQL I specify the data path and table as: \\MYSERVER\MYDIRECTORY\MYTABLE

If I add the parameter to the URL as:

SELECT * FROM \\MYSERVER\MYDIRECTORY\MYTABLE?lockType=FOXPRO

I receive this error: Table Does'nt Exist

It is because the .dbf is appended after the url parameter like this: \\MYSERVER\MYDIRECTORY\MYTABLE?lockType=FOXPRO.dbf

How should I be structuring the URL to get around this? or where else can I place the parameter?

Thanks.

lockType connection property is used once in jdbc url or properties, and you needn't use it in sql.

I am using a "free JDBC url" as refrenced in your FAQ Remote Access Questions and Client/Server Mode Questions - #3.

Where would I add the parameter in the properties?

jdbc:dbf:/?lockType=FOXPRO

Or
Properties prop=new Properties();
prop.put("lockType","FOXPRO");
Connection con=DriverManager.getConnection("jdbc:dbf:/",prop);
