buffered updates?

I'm running the latest snap of Access_Embedded_JDBC40.jar within a ColdFusion based site. We are using railo v3.3.1 (open source cf engine), tomcat 7.0.20, jdk (1.6.0_29), all under 64bit windows server (2008 r2 enterprise). What I am seeing is a delay with any UPDATEs to the database. Obviously, we'd like inserts and updates to occur immediately. These statements are not wrapped in a transaction. Is there any sort of cacheing that might be occurring within the code? Is there a way/option to make it auto-commit?
