Trim() Working with latest version of HXTT driver?
Mark Jones
2011-01-20 11:12:03.0
In a previous version of the driver, we used the TRIM function in our queries against .csv files, which worked correctly.

For example: select distinct trim(upper("name ")) as ACCOUNT

However, with the latest version, we receive an 'Invalid Column' error if a column name in our query contains white space: select distinct trim(upper("name ")) as ACCOUNT

If we remove the white space, it works fine: select distinct trim(upper("name")) as ACCOUNT

Is this a known issue?

Thanks,
-Mark

According to customer's suggestion, the latest version since June 30, 2010, will detect and trim the head/tail space for column name.

This issue exists with the latest version of the driver.

If the column name in the .csv file contains a white space (ie: "Name "), an Invalid Error message occurs, even when using TRIM()

This did not happen in older versions of the driver.

Yeah. Do you expect still an unformatted "Name ", not a fixed "Name" as column name?

Yes; the issue is that our customer has hundred's of queries that would have to change (ie: remote the white space manually from their queries).

Was this feature taken out in order to fix a different issue?

Do you know if this regression will be fixed, or will it stay as is?

Thanks,
-Mark

Sorry for missed that thread. We can provide a solution to support
select distinct trim(upper("name ")) as ACCOUNT, trim(upper("name")) as ACCOUNT
in the same sql
The true column is "name", but "name " can be detect.
What's your thought?
